STI Home Test Kit

Home Test Kits

Home tests are a convenient option that allow you to get tested discreetly without taking time off work to visit a clinic.  Tests are processed in medical laboratories to ensure a high level of accuracy.

Please note that if you are experiencing symptoms or have questions, we highly advise that you visit our clinic for an appointment with the doctor.  For more information on symptoms and our services in clinic, please visit STI Screening.

Home test kits come with full instructions so that you understand how to take your sample and return it to the lab.  They are simple to complete and should not cause any pain. You may be required to take a swab, finger prick or urine sample.

When to get tested

You should wait a minimum of 3 weeks from the time of unprotected sexual intercourse before taking your test. Sexually transmitted infections can take a period of time to become detectable, and you should wait to ensure an accurate results.  It’s a good idea to get retested after 3 months to ensure that you are clear (syphilis and hepatitis B/C in particular may take time to be detectable). If you are sexually active and changing partners, regular testing is advised.

You should also get tested if a previous partner has informed you that they tested positive, even if it’s been several years since your sexual relationship ended.  Some STIs can remain dormant for years.
