Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (APBM) involves measuring blood pressure (BP) at regular intervals (usually every 20–30 minutes) over a 24-hour period while you carry on with normal daily activities. Childhood Vaccinations & Immunisations at Union Quay Medical Centre
We offer a full childhood and baby vaccination service.
You do not have to pay the clinic for the vaccinations as the HSE will cover all the costs involved to ensure that all eligible babies and children can receive the scheduled vaccines free of charge from their GP. (more…)
Experienced Counselling at Union Quay Medical Centre
Counselling is for anyone who wants professional and objective support in a time of personal stress or crisis. Stress or crisis can occur at times of change and can lead to us feeling unhappy or even stuck in our circumstances.
Counselling is also valuable as an aid to personal growth and can help with developing skills in assertiveness and self- confidence, which in turn can assist in increasing your sense of well- being.
Counselling in Union Quay Medical is provided in a safe, caring and confidential environment by Elena Glass.
Elena Glass is a Licensed Professional Counsellor, a Certified Addiction Counsellor and is accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. A graduate of the Master’s Program in Psychotherapy in the USA, she has been practicing psychotherapy for 5 years helping individuals, couples, adults and adolescents make a positive change in their lives.

Having graduated with honours from University College Cork in 1999, Dervla went to work in the UK gaining valuable experience in general dentistry. After returning to Ireland she established Dervla Leavy Dental Care in Ballincollig in 2004. Union Quay Medical Centre provides a comprehensive occupational health service, at our office conveniently located at Union Quay in Cork city.
We aim to provide a safe, effective, quality occupational health service to our clients. Our service is client-centred and lead by our occupational health specialist Dr Conor McDonnell FFOM. Dr Paul Ryan is undertaking post graduate training in occupational medicine as well.
We are fully equipped with an audiometer and audio booth, a spirometer, a Keystone Visual Acuity Screen, an ECG and we can provide near point testing for Drugs of Abuse (DOA), as supplied by Alere. We use Medlab Pathology for our blood sampling and have partnered with Full Health Medical as a platform for our Health Screening.

Wherever you’re travelling, we can advise you on staying healthy while you’re away.
At Union Quay Medical Centre we co-share clinic space with Global Travel Vaccinations, which is a member of the network of Tropical Medical Bureau clinics.
You may not even be sure which vaccinations and other health precautions you need for your trip – that’s where we can help. Tell us what areas of the world you’re visiting and we will give you a complete plan and answer all your questions. Typically appointments last for around 40 minutes to ensure that you have everything you need.
Please note that whilst many vaccinations can be given in the two weeks before your trip, others may need more time, so it’s best to call us a couple of months before your trip to ensure that you get everything you need. If your trip is happening at short notice, call anyway, as we can still offer useful advice to keep you safe.
If you have recently returned from travelling, we also offer testing services to ensure you’re returning home in full health.
